Visualization can be a very powerful tool. Even simple images have the power to be provocative, insightful, challenging, and even funny. Jessica Hagy’s book and associated blog, Indexed, are no exception. In fact, they are great examples of very simple images such as line charts and Venn diagrams used to communicate complex concepts, often with a good dose of humor and wit. (photo by Christine Edwards) With a member of Thunderbirds Are Now!, consistent “yeah”s throughout and an overall sense of glee an reverie of all things power pop, Friendly Foes are like rediscovering your love for that vinyl pressing of Zen Arcade or No Pocky For Kitty. They mix up a frantic mess of guitar, bass and drums and reel it in with peppy, super-addictive lyrics, creating a version of hooky anthems that have been sorely missed around the halls of rock these days. God bless them.
